What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing provides on-demand computer system resources like storage, networking, computer processing, et cetera, without a user needing to manage the hardware. For example, Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides many cloud computing services via their global data centers.

Advantages of Cloud Computing

Some of the many advantages of cloud computing include improved cost, productivity, performance, reliability, and more. Resources in “the cloud” are accessible over the Internet, allowing companies to quickly innovate with a smaller investment (you only pay for what you use) than the time and materials needed for a physical setup on location. They no longer need to provision the hardware to test an idea; instead, a company can spin up the appropriate cloud-based resource and create a proof of concept.

Additionally, online resources can be quickly scalable, as well as adjustable. Cloud resources are provisioned at the appropriate size, and more resources can be added as needed. My team scales the resources that we run automations on by automatically spinning them up as needed, then shutting them off automatically…
